1Add the 1/2 cup water and sugar together and bring to a boil. Take about half the berries and crush them. Add them to the water and sugar mixture.
2Take your 3/4 cup cold water and cornstarch and mix together. Add to the berry syrup. Cook until the syrup becomes thick and translucent.
3Add in your salt, lemon juice, and red food coloring. Place in the freezer until ice cold but not frozen.
4Add the rest of the halved strawberries (or sliced) and place in a baked and cooled pie crust. Top with fresh whipped cream.
5This pie needs to be served fresh the day it is made for best results.
