3 tablespoons of clarified butter
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
½ teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow Mung beans or red lentils rinsed
1 cup basmati rice rinsed
6 cups of water
In a pot, heat clarified butter over medium heat. Add the cumin and mustard seeds, wait for them to pop.
Add everything but the water and simmer for a few minutes
Add the water and bring to a boil
Turn the heat to low and cover, stir occasionally. Cook until tender about 25 minutes.
