Cream together butter, shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Combine flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; stir into sugar mixture. Stir in the oats and chocolate chips.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

Bake 10-15 (depending on size) minutes until light and golden. Do NOT overbake.

Let them cool 2 minutes before removing them from cookie sheets to cool completely.
