combine flour, white sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, baking powder and salt

combine milk, oil and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients. Spread into lightly greased 8x8 pan or similar dish.

Combine 3/4 c. brown sugar and 1/4 c. cocoa powder along with bittersweet chocolate (grated, shaved or chopped). Sprinkle onto batter.

Slowly pour 1 3/4 cups boiling water over top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Let cool briefly. Best served warm; great topped with non-fat whipped cream or light ice cream.
