Preheat oven to 350 F. Beat egg and then mix melted butter, sugar, salt, and spices. Mix dry and wet ingredients. Roll into a log and bake for 35 minutes until firm in the center. Remove from the oven and use a serrated knife to cut into 14 pieces. Place back into oven to "dry out" for another 15 to 20 minutes, when the biscotti are golden and crisp.
