can (15 oz)black beans, divided

cupsoatmeal

cupsold fashion oats, divided

cup, shreddedfinely shredded cheddar cheese

tablespoonsgreen onion tops, minced

tablespoonscilantro, fresh, chopped
Steps
Sequence Step
1Place half of the beans in a large bowl and mash slighly with fork. Stir in half the oats.
2Pulse remaining oats in food processor until finely ground. Add remaining beans, pulse until chopped. Add egg whites, flour, 1/2 tsp salk and the chile powder and process for 1 minute or until coarse paste forms. Add to mashed bean mixture; stir in cheese, onions and cilantro.
3Divide into fourths. Spray large plate with cooking spray. Take a portion and make into a 4 inch patty about 1/2 inch thick. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or freeze for 30 minutes until chilled. Grill 6-8 minutes or until burgers are firm. Easier if you place foil under the burger in case it starts to fall apart.
