Oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Melt 1/2 cup of butter.

In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and 1 tsp. of garlic powder.

Add melted butter, milk and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir gently, just until moistened. DO NOT over stir.

Drop batter onto parchment lined rimmed baking sheet using cookie scooper. Bake the biscuits for 9 minutes.

Meanwhile, stir together 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder. Remove the biscuits from oven and generously but gently brush the tops of the half-baked biscuits with the garlic butter.
