This is an old family favorite from my PA Dutch heritage. Great dish using sweet and sour.

bacon, cooked and crumbled

Onions, sliced

Cornstarch

mustard, dry

green beans, canned

firmly packed brown sugar

vinegar

eggs hard boiled

Fry bacon in skillet until crisp. Remove bacon and crumble. Set aside and save for topping. Drain off all but 1 TBSP drippings.

Add onion and brown lightly.

Stir in cornstarch and dry mustard.

Drain beans reserving 1/2 cup liquid. Stir reserved liquid in skillet.

Cook, stirring until mixture boils.

Blend in brown sugar and vinegar.

Add green beans and heat thoroughly.

Turn into serving dish and garnish with egg and crumbled bacon.
