mix flour and sugar

put flour and sugar mixture in heavy pan with milk.

separate eggs and beat yolks well (save whites)and add to milk mixture along with vanilla and butter

stir constantly until it comes to boil and thickens (about 1 minute after it boils)

Add 3/4 of coconut and stir well

place in pie crust

beat 3 egg whites until stiff and slowly add 6T. sugar

Place on pie, making sure to seal edges well,sprinkle remainder of coconut on top and bake at 350 until brown

cool to room temperature to cut
