Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, sugar, salt. Cut in shortening with fork until mixture becomes crumbly. Add 8T ice cold water until dough becomes a ball. Roll out dough on floured surface. Cut out 3x5 rectangles. You will need a top and a bottom for each poptart. Add 1-2 tsp jam of your choice in the center leaving 1/4" of space around the edge. Place top piece and seal edges with a fork. Pierce top with a fork a couple times to allow air to escape. Bake for 18-22 minutes until slightly brown. Remove from oven and cool completely. Drizzle with powdered sugar frosting. (Add 1C. powdered sugar and 2T milk. Mix until smooth.)
