1Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat and cook the onion for 2 minutes, until soft. Add the ground beef and cook until it loses its red color, sturring and breaking it into small pieces as you cook. Add the salt and a few grinds of pepper
2Stir in the pumpkin, tomatoes, tomato sauce, salsa (or chili sauce), molasses, vinegar, chili powder, and cumin. Bring to a boil , reduce the heat, partially cover and cook for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the flavors blend and the mixture thickens. If it gets too thick, add a few tablespoons of water. Stir occasionally.
3Just before serving, lightly toast whole wheat hamburger buns. Fill each bun with a generous scoop of Punkin'' Joe.
