Recipe Description King Cake is a favorite in Louisiana during the Mardi Gras season. One of my favorites is the Zulu. However, it is very difficult to find a recipe. So I found other king cake recipes and put them together to make my own version.

Zulu King Cake

cupsall-purpose flour

Sequence Step
1Put the dough ingredients in a bread maker and set it to dough cycle. Press start and 90 minutes later you have dough.
2After the dough is ready. Kneed the dough.
3Split the dough into 3 parts.
4Roll each part into 3 long strips.
5Mix the filling. Put the filling on the strips of dough.
6Close the dough around the filling so you have 3 long ropes.
7Braid the three ropes together and make a ring.
8Put a small glass bowl or glass in the center so the dough will keep it''s ring shape.
9Bake for 25 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees. Mix the glaze after the cake has cooled for about 30 minutes.

1Mix all filling ingredients in bowl.
2Some people like to add 1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes. Personally I prefer it without it.

1Mix glaze ingredients together.
2Pour over cooled king cake.
3Sprinkle pecans over glaze.
4Optional: Sprinkle sweetened coconut with the pecans over cake.
