Knead the dough vigorously for at least 5 minutes, adding flour if necessary to keep it from sticking.
Return it to the bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until it''s double in size, at least an hour.
Heat a pizza stone to 500°F (30 minutes on the stove''s bottom rack). Meanwhile, work the dough on a lightly floured board, to form a circle no more than 1/4-inch thick in the center, 1/2 inch at the edge.
Sprinkle cornmeal on a flat cookie sheet and place the circle of dough on it. Top with the oil and garlic. Spread on the clams with a dash of their own juice. Sprinkle on the oregano and cheese.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone. Bake until the crust is light brown (about 15 minutes).
