Heat oil in a medium-size pot over medium heat until shimmering. Add the cut up sausage and cook. Use a slotted spoon to transfer sausage onto a paper towel lined plate. Add the onion and cut up sage to the pot, along with a few pinches of salt and pepper and cook until transluscent and very soft, about 10 minutes. Add the sausage back to the pot along with the beans and broth; bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook about 10 minutes, until piping hot. Taste and adjust seasoning.
