Recipe Description
This is a recipe for Whole Wheat Irish Soda bread. It can be shaped into a round loaf 2 inches thick, scored deeply on top with a cross. I wanted scones so I changed the shaping directions.

Step
1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
2
Whisk together all dry ingredients. Use an open hand to mix with your fingers.
3
Make a hole in the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk and raisins. Mix thoroughly, add more buttermilk if too dry to form into a ball.
4
Half the ball. Flatten each ball into to rounds about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
5
Cut each round into 4 wedges and transfer to baking sheet not quite touching each other.
6
Bake for about 30 minutes or until done. Scones will be browned, tester will be clean. Inside will be tender.
