Recipe Description This is a recipe for Whole Wheat Irish Soda bread. It can be shaped into a round loaf 2 inches thick, scored deeply on top with a cross. I wanted scones so I changed the shaping directions.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
Whisk together all dry ingredients. Use an open hand to mix with your fingers.
Make a hole in the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk and raisins. Mix thoroughly, add more buttermilk if too dry to form into a ball.
Half the ball. Flatten each ball into to rounds about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
Cut each round into 4 wedges and transfer to baking sheet not quite touching each other.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until done. Scones will be browned, tester will be clean. Inside will be tender.
