Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Greas an 8" by 4" loaf pan with solid shortening and set aside.

In large bowl, combine 1/3 cup peanut butter, butter, and 1 cup brown sugar and beat until blended. Add egg and beat well.

In small bowl, combine 1 3/4 cups flour, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermil to peanut butter mixture.
