Add diced potatoes, a tablespoon or so of butter and a dash of salt to a pot and cover them with water. Boil them until very tender (usually about 20 to 25 minutes).

Drain the potatoes. Mash them to the consistency you wish. It''s okay if it''s lumpy.

Stir in the rest of the butter and add salt to taste.

Pour in the milk (use enough to make it a soup, it''ll thicken as you stir so add it as needed).

Heat through. Add any more salt and pepper to taste.
