Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 9" square pan.

In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In small saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, remove from heat.

Add 1 cup of chocolate chips and vanilla; stir until smooth. Transfer to large bowl.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.

Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in remaining chocolate chips (and nuts if you want to).

Spread in prepared pan. Bake 28-33 minutes until just set. Cool completely.
