In a large saucepan (or electric skillet) Heat oil medium heat. Add onions, garlic, carrots, and celery. Stir occasionally until softened about 5 minutes. Add beef and sausage meat. Cook until no lumps and meat no longer pink. Add tomatoes ( Kitchen Ready), breaking up with back of spoon. Add spices and herbs.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour or until reduced and thickened slightly. Discard Bay leaf.
