Add carrots, onion, and celery. Cook until they begin to soften. About 5 minutes.

Add split peas and chicken broth. Bring to a boil. Simmer 1 hour or until split peas are soft.

If soup is too thick add additional broth as desired. Salt and pepper to taste. This is also good with vegetable broth to make it vegetarian. I also occasionally add fresh dill for a change. Potatoes can also be added. Change it up to fit your own taste.
