This is a variation of a macaroni and cheese recipe I got from the Food Network. It is very delicious.

In a large, heavy saucepan, cook the onions and garlic in butter over moderately low heat, stirring, until onion is soft.

Stir in flour. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes. Add milk in a stream, whisking. Continue to whisk until the milk comes to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for about 2 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

While making the milk sauce, boil a separate pot of water and cook the macaroni until barely al dente (probably 6-7 minutes, but check the cooking time on the box). Drain well.

Mix the cooked macaroni into the milk mixture. stir in the shredded cheeses. Pour into a buttered 13x9 dish. Sprinkle the bread crumbs evenly on top of the macaroni and cheese. Bake in a pre-heated 375 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dish is bubbling around the edges. Remove from oven, and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
