Steps
Sequence Step
1Melt butter.
2Add onion and saute until tender.
3Add flour, chicken base, and pepper to onion.
4Stir until blended and cook for 5 minutes.
5Whisk water into mixture.
6Cook until mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
7add mushrooms, garlic powder, and barley.
8Return to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
9Add hot milk.
10Heat to 180 degrees F.
11Stir in parsley.
12Check seasoning and adjust.
13Reduce heat to low until ready to serve.
