Steps
Sequence Step
1Combine all the ingredients except the cumin in a large saucepan with the water.
2Bring to a boil and simmer on low, covered, for 1 %BD hours.
3Discard the bay leaf.
4Remove 1 cup of soup to puree it.
5Puree it and return to pan, heat through, sprinkle cumin on top, and serve hot.
