to make biscuits: combine: flour, salt and baking powder

put in shortening, crumble into flour, work with fingers until crumbly.

add water to make a good texture

roll and cut or pat into biscuit

bake on cookie sheet 350 degrees for 12-20 minutes

to make gravy: brown ground beef with onions and garlic

make a mix of the cornstarch and water, add the salt and pepper (lots of pepper is more authentic)

add the cornstarch mix to the meat. Stir until thick and bubbly

serve over split biscuits
