1prepare vegetables and measure out remaining ingredients
2in a stock pot over medium heat cook the onion, celery, carrot and garlic in oil until tender
3add remaining ingredients (if using canned beans do not add salt), bring to a boil
4cover, reduce heat and simmer @ 20 minutes
