Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Heat oil in a large skillet, over medium high heat; sprinkle chicken with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.

Brown chicken 3 minutes on each side; transfer to a roasting pan.

Arrange onions and potatoes around chicken; sprinkle with rosemary, garlic and remaining salt and pepper.
