1 | Add diced potatoes, a tablespoon or so of butter and a dash of salt to a pot and cover them with water. Boil them until very tender (usually about 20 to 25 minutes). |
2 | Drain the potatoes. Mash them to the consistency you wish. It''s okay if it''s lumpy. |
3 | Stir in the rest of the butter and add salt to taste. |
4 | Pour in the milk (use enough to make it a soup, it''ll thicken as you stir so add it as needed). |
5 | Heat through. Add any more salt and pepper to taste. |
6 | Serve with shredded cheese on top if desired. |
