Steps
Sequence Step
1Saute onion and sausage together over medium heat until the meat it browned and onions are starting to caramelize.
2Add your cheeses, the whole egg, hot sauce, salt, and parsley.
3Mix in your buttermilk baking mix, milk, and mayonnaise. This will create a sticky dough, but that''s what you''re looking for.
4Spread half your dough on the bottom of a well-greased 8X8 inch pan and cover with the sausage and onion mixture.
5Spread remaining dough over the top of the sausage mixture and brush the top of the dough with your beaten egg yolk.
6Bake for 25-30 min at 400 degrees F. Allow to cool slightly, and then cut into 16 squares and serve while warm.
7The squares can be made in advance and frozen. Just reheat before serving.
