Steps
Sequence Step
1Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine yeast, warm water, and a large pinch of sugar in a bowl. Stir to combine, then allow to proof for 10 minutes until yeast is foamy.
2Add 1/4 cup sugar, salt, oil, and 5 cups of flour. Mix to combine. Add 1-2 more cups of flour, half a cup at a time, until dough forms a slightly sticky ball. Knead into a ball, place in oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, allow to rise for about 1 hour, until doubled.
3Gently punch down dough, divide in half. Roll or press each half into a rectangle so that the short end is slightly shorter than the loaf pan. Roll up the rectangle starting from the short end and place in greased loaf pan. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for about an hour, until loaf is about 1 inch over the edge of the pan.
4Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until loaf is browned and sounds hollow when tapped.
