Sequence Step
1Pie crust 2 cups flour 2/3 cup shortening 1. Using a pastry blender blend together flour and shortening until crumbly and mixed. 2. Add enough moisture (milk or water) and mix until dough forms and sticks together. 3. Form dough into a ball and cut in half. 4. Roll out one half of the dough and fit into greased 9-inch pie plate. 5. Roll out the other half and set aside.
2Filling: 4 cups peeled and sliced apples (Macintosh or Gala), 1 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup flour 1. Mix together sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and flour. 2. Add mixture to apples and mix well. 3. Add apples to prepared pie crust. 4. Brush edges with milk and place other crust on top. 5. Press to seal edges together to form a crust of top (press with fingers or use a fork), 6. Brush top of pie with milk and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. 7. Make a few slits in the top of pie to allow steam to escape. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes, then reduce temp to 350 for an additinal 30 minutes.
