Recipe Description Be careful… these can be addictive! Perfect for parties and can be prepared ahead and frozen. Cool before freezing and store up to a month. To reheat, place frozen gougères on baking sheet, bake at 350 degrees for about 6 to 8 minutes.

Steps

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper. Mince chives and grate cheese. Heat water, butter, salt, and peppers in a saucepan until the butter melts. Add flour all at once, stirring vigorously until mixture pulls away from sides of pan and forms a smooth ball. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating with an electric mixer on medium speed for one minute after each egg. Stir in cheese and mustard. Snip off corner of a freezer bag or use a pastry bag with a plain or star tip or use two teaspoons to portion and drop the dough. Add dough to bag. Pipe dough into mounds on baking sheet, spacing evenly apart. Each mound should be about the size of a small cherry tomato. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm.
