cup (not packed)raisins (chopped)

Sequence Step
1In a large bowl beat together butter, 1 C sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour, baking soda and spices, beating until blended. Stir in raisins. Divide dough into 2 equal portions Shape each portion into a rectangle 9 1/2 inches long, 2 1/4 inches wide ad 1 1/2 inches thick. Wrap and freeze until firm, at least 1 hour. To bake cookies, preheat oven to 375 F. Cut frozen dough into 1/4 inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 10 - 12 minutes or until golden. Remove cookies form baking sheets; cool on racks. Makes about 70 cookies.
