1 | Preheat oven to 400 F |
2 | Combine first 6 ingredients in processor and blend |
3 | Add butter and cut in, using on/off turns, until fine meal forms |
4 | Transfer to large bowl and mix in the cheese (Can be prepared 4 hours ahead. Cover and chill.) |
5 | Mix enough buttermilk into flour mixture to bind dough |
6 | Turn out onto floured surface and knead gently until combined (about 10 turns) |
7 | Pat out dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Using a 3-inch diameter cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. (You can also use a tea cup) |
8 | Transfer biscuits to ungreesed cooke sheet. Brush biscuits with egg glaze and sprinkle with poppy seeds. |
9 | Bake until golden brown and firm to touch, about 18 minutes. Swerve warm. |
