Recipe Description This was my mom's recipe and we all loved this as an alternate for chocolate. Cook it a bit longer and use as pie filling!

Steps
Sequence Step
1Measure brown sugar, corn starch and salt into a deep, heavy saucepan.
2Wisk in the egg yolks to make a paste.
3Gradually add milk, whisking as you go, to avoid making lumps.
4Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until desired thickness is achieved.
5Lower heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is completely melted.
6Pour into dishes or baked pie crust. Allow to cool. Great warm or chilled.
