| The first time you make this recipe, you''ll need to make up two cups of sourdough starter. You can get some dried starter from Carl''s Friends Sourdough (http:/www.carlsfriends.net). Add that to about 2 cups of flour and two cups of starter and let it sit for a day or two in a warm place. Don''t use metal bowls or utensils with sourdough. |
| Put 2 cups of the sourdough starter in another mixing bowl.
You can add 2 cups of flour and water to the remaining starter in the original mixing bowl to have starter for next time. |
| Add egg, oil, sugar to starter |
| Get your waffle iron hot. Once it is ready, add the baking soda to the other ingredients and mix it in. You can mix it with a little bit of water before adding it if you like. The mixture should foam up a bit and roughly double in volume (be sure to use a large enough mixing bowl). |
