Steps
Sequence Step
1Prepare by washing and cutting all vegetables. In a pan, heat 1/4 cup of vegetable oil and add in 4 chopped onions.
2After about 10-15 minutes, add in the chili powder and 1-2 cups of water cooking on medium heat.
3In another big pot, add 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and put in the remaining chopped onions, cabbage, and 1 diced tomato.
4Let it cook until vegetables are tender and add in peppers, carrots, tumeric, half of the minced garlic and salt to taste to cook for about 15-20 minutes on med-high heat.
5Back to the pan, add in the 2 diced tomatoes, the well drained lentils, half of the minced garlic, and enough water to cook the lentils (about 7-8 cups).
6Cook lentils until done (about 15-20min) and serve with the cooked cabbage. This dish can also be eaten with some bread (optional).
