Make Your Own Cakemix- The base

cupButter flavor shortening (Crisco)
Steps
Sequence Step
1Mix dry ingredients in electric mixer.
2Add shortening in small cubes. Keep it cool before using or it will make mix gummy. The mix should come out a crumby uniform consistency.

1Put cake mix base in mixing bowl or mixer. Add milk, slightly beaten eggs and vanilla. mixing for 200 strokes by hand or 2 minutes on medium for mixer, scraping down sides as needed.
2Bake 350 degrees. Use non-stick cooking spray if using pans, paper liners for cupcakes. 24 cupcakes 10-15 minutes 2-9" rounds 18-25 minutes 2 8" rounds 20-25 minutes bundt 25-30 minutes Surface should appear dry, toothpick inserted in middle should come out clean. Allow to stand 15 minutes before removing from pans.
