Recipes - Heart Healthy Crunchy Granola

Recipe Name

Heart Healthy Crunchy Granola

Submitted by HealthyMom
Recipe Description Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Except for dried fruit (i.e. craisins, bananas, raisins, or cherries), mix all ingredients in large bowl. Grease large baking sheet (with sides) with a small amount of canola oil. Spread granola mixture evenly on baking sheet. Cook for approximately 30 minutes until granola starts to turn a nice light brown. Remove from oven and immediately spoon granola back into mixing bowl. (Note: do not let granola start to cool on baking sheet or it will be difficult to remove). Mix-in 1 Cup (or slightly more) of dried fruit of your choice (craisins work really nicely). As granola cools, periodically chop it up and stir to make nice 'crumbles'. Ideas: Great when mixed in with yogurt and fresh berries; also great as a topping for ice cream. To create more of a trail mix snack, add your favorite "mix-in's" to granola (i.e. M&M's, almonds, peanuts, raisins, etc.)
